China posted 4.3-4.6% GDP growth in Q3 2026
China's Q3 growth came with annual consumer inflation near 1%, while South Korea failed to release its Q3 GDP figure.
China posted GDP growth of 4.3%, 4.6% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026. Annual consumer inflation for September stayed between 0.9% and 1.0%. South Korea did not release its third-quarter GDP figure as of Wednesday.
The growth range was reported on Tuesday, 20 October, and fell within the 4.3%, 4.6% band. It was presented instead of the higher 4.6%, 4.9% alternative. The figure also differed from the lower 4.0%, 4.3% and 3.7%, 4.0% alternatives.
September's annual consumer price inflation was recorded at 0.9%, 1.0%. The data were released on Wednesday, 14 October. The result was lower than the 1.1%+ range considered in other scenarios.
South Korea's third-quarter GDP growth figure was not published on Wednesday, 28 October. Earlier alternatives had placed the growth between 2.5% and 2.9%. The absence of the data left a gap in the regional economic snapshot for the quarter.
Analysis
China's solid growth combined with sub-1% consumer inflation suggests that the economy maintained momentum while price pressures remained muted. The combination can give policymakers room to balance stimulus and stability without immediate inflation concerns. It also provides a contrast to earlier expectations of slightly higher growth bands.
Without the data, it is harder to assess the region's overall demand and export outlook for the quarter.
Together, the Chinese data and the Korean reporting gap shape a mixed picture for the broader region. Strong Chinese performance may bolster confidence in regional growth, but the missing Korean numbers limit a complete assessment. Future releases will be needed to clarify whether the current trends persist.
