Google Gemini Pro missed November deadline as AI launches stalled
Gemini Argon debuted on October 13 while Google's Gemini Pro and Meta's Watermelon missed their October launch windows.
A wave of postponements swept the AI industry this week as several next-generation models failed to launch on their scheduled dates. Google's upcoming Gemini Pro model did not appear by the end of October, and Meta's Watermelon model also remained unreleased. Gemini 4 Argon likewise was not made publicly available before mid-October.
The Gemini Pro line, expected to roll out in October, was confirmed not to have launched by October 31. A subsequent update on October 11 affirmed that the model would also not be released by November 1. Both findings pushed the anticipated release window well beyond the original schedule.
However, the follow-up Gemini 4 Argon version was not made publicly available before October 15. The gap between the two releases left a notable interval in the Gemini product timeline.
Meta's Watermelon model, slated for an October debut, was reported not to have launched by October 31. The confirmation arrived on October 14, confirming the postponement. No alternative release date was provided in the update.
Only Gemini Argon was released on October 13. Google's Gemini Pro model remained unreleased through both the October 31 and November 1 checkpoints. Meta's Watermelon and Gemini 4 Argon also stayed unreleased by the end of October.
